Smart media

I liked learning all the different types of media, and how many there were. I hadn't realised how many different types there were.

I like learning all about the different forms of media and how they all work. It is a way to communicate.

How many different types of media have you seen today?

Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga

Whanaungatanga is about building relationships through shared experiences and working together. It develops as a result of kinship with the focus being to bring people together and give others a sense of belonging.

Manaakitanga is about showing showing respect to different people, groups and cultures. It is also about showing hospitality a host to make sure that people feel welcome in an unfamiliar place.

Whanaungatanga

This shows Whanaungatanga because when Ashley bullied Anna, Maani said that Anna could play with her instead.

Manaakitanga

This is showing Manaakitanga because Anna, the taller one is respecting Maani's culture by asking how to speak Greek, and trying her hardest to learn the words.

I hope you enjoyed reading my comics!

Quality Blog Comment

We have the power to make people feel great with our positive comments, so we need to make sure we don’t upset the blogger with a negative comment. We used the programme Make Beliefs Comix to make a comic strip about a quality blog comment. It was fun but a little bit challenging to make the comic strip. Have a read of our comic strips. Do they make you feel proud?

Real and Fake

We have been learning the difference between real and fake. We can use our 5 senses to know if something is real and I have added some images of real things on my first slide. Fake things can be in our imagination and are not real. I have added some fake images to my second slide. It is important to know the difference when I add things to my digital footprint.

Persuasive writing

Kia ora, over the past few weeks in class we have been learning about persuasive writing. Below is my persuasive writing, I hope you enjoy reading it.

More Imaginative Writing in Class.

Did you know that imaginative writing helps build muscle memory and good habits? My name is Maani and I’m going to be talking to you about why we should have more imaginative writing in class.

I think we should have more imaginative writing because it helps me stay focused and I like to get my fingers moving. Kids who do more imaginative writing stay happy and also make better decisions in class. When you do more imaginative writing you will learn more and build confidence in your writing skills. When you write you will take away stress, it’s also good to be imaginative.

Some people say that we have to learn other writing stuff, but I think that just a little bit every day would be fine. Other people say that if we keep doing the same thing over and over we won’t be able to learn other stuff like maths and reading, but we can learn more writing skills and features.
Thank you for listening,  please think about letting us have some more imaginative writing in class.

How to boulder

Background:
Maani bouldering at Flock Hill (spotter taking the photo)
Bouldering is climbing rock without a rope, you only climb high enough so that you are comfortable to jump down.

Ingredients:

  • Rock with small ledges for your feet and hands
  • Chalk
  • Climbing shoes
  • Boulder mat
  • Someone who will spot you (help you fall safely)
  • Brave climber

Method:

  • Make sure you have a boulder mat underneath you in case you fall or need to jump off
  • Put climbing shoes on to have more grip on your feet
  • Put chalk on so your hands don't slip
  • Make sure your spotter is ready
  • Look for the holds you are going to use
  • Start climbing and have fun
  • If you feel stuck move to the next holds or jump off
  • Try and encourage yourself to keep going
  • Take deep breaths if you're feeling scared
  • When you fall off let your muscles have a rest or else it will be hard to start climbing again (because of lactic acid)
  • Make sure not to have your knees too high because it can push you off the rock
  • Make sure to have fun!!!!!!!!

Lesson 4 rounding up and down with mum

I gave my partner ( my mum ) 15 rounding equations and checked them, then my mum gave me a choice if I wanted to have 15 rounding equations or 3 hard rounding equations. I chose 3 hard equations, they were very hard. I had to round and then I added the thousands and the hundreds and the tens and then the ones.
